MHSVCA FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH AMERICAN VOLLEYBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION
7/1/2009 - The Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association (MHSVCA) is pleased to announce an affiliate partnership with The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), established to build relationships between the AVCA and high school volleyball coaches across the country.
Missouri joins the state volleyball coaches associations of Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin as AVCA affiliate partners.
In this win-win scenario, affiliate partner member coaches who join the AVCA will receive the educational tools, product/member discounts, publications and other benefits of being an AVCA member. The AVCA, in turn, continues to grow its membership at the grassroots level, furthering its effort to unify the sport and its most influential individuals, the coaches.
"A community of coaches that includes and engages all levels of the sport is critical to the growth and development of volleyball," said AVCA executive director Kathy DeBoer. "The AVCA seeks to provide the forums for respectful and meaningful dialogue between high school, club, college and international coaches. The 20% membership growth we have experienced in the past year attests to the fact that volleyball coaches are buying into that vision."
In order for coaches to fully take advantage of this partnership, they first must become members of the MHSVCA at the regular rate ($25 per coach per year). Then, a coach needs to become a member of the AVCA at a high school affiliate discounted rate of $50 per coach per year ($15 discount).
What does membership with the AVCA get you?

- Opportunity to attend the AVCA national convention (in Kansas City in 2010!), USA Volleyball CAP clinics and other events at a discounted rate

- Subscription to "Coaching Volleyball" - the only technical volleyball coaches journal available in the country

- Eligibility to the following awards: AVCA Team Academic Award, Coaches Victory Club, Coach of the Year program, AVCA Player of the Week recognition, All-American and All-Region player recognition and eligibility for players to participate in the Senior High School All-American match
- Your participation in assisting the AVCA elevate volleyball coaching to a higher level by expanding the knowledge base of members and increased participation to benefit our programs, players and promotion of volleyball, in general
For those of you who are already AVCA members, the discount will apply to your next renewal. You must apply through the MHSVCA to receive the rate, not through the AVCA.
