MHSVCA Clinic 2009
FIRST MHSVCA CLINIC A SUCCESS!!
8/1/2009 - In conjunction with Sports Imports, The Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association (MHSVCA) held its first coaches clinic in many years on Aug. 1, 2009 at Lewis and Clark Middle School in Jefferson City, MO.
The clinic was a huge success with over 110 coaches in attendance--a tremendous showing for a first-time clinic. Highlights of the day included a MSHSAA rules meeting (many coaches commented on how great it was to get that out of the way), Saint Louis University's Anne Kordes demonstrating drills and team defense along with retired Iowa high school coach Tom Keating teaching serve receive, transition and how to build a program.
The keynote address was given by Kathy DeBoer, the executive director of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) who discussed the impact of gender on sports and coaching as well as describing how the AVCA can help Missouri high school coaches.
Lastly, without the generous support of Sports Imports, the company that manufactures Senoh net systems, the clinic would not have happened. Frank Lattimore represented Sports Imports that day and also provided many door prizes for the day's attendees.
Plans are already underway for the 2010 clinic and the feedback given from those in attendance will make next year's event even better. Even those of you who hated sitting in those bleachers all day, there is already a plan in place for next year!!
Thank you so much for your attendance and please make sure to inform those in your area of the state to come next year!
